For availing surrogacy in India, the commissioning parents must first approach a government medical board. Parents should generally be between 25 and 50 years of age and must meet the medical and legal eligibility criteria as prescribed under Indian surrogacy laws.
As per Indian law, only altruistic surrogacy is legally permitted. Commercial surrogacy is strictly prohibited.
Required documentation includes medical fitness certificates, essentiality certificates, identity proofs, and approvals from government authorities.
A surrogate must meet medical fitness criteria, have previously given birth to a healthy child, and comply with age and legal requirements.
